VIEWS EXPRESSED BY GUEST WRITERS ARE THEIR OWN AND NOT NECESSARILY THOSE OF THE GREENPORT PERIMETER

Janice Brodowski was a member of the Greenport town board for eight years, the town's former tax collector, and has been organizing the Greenport Playground for the past nine years.

Last December, I completed my eighth year on the Greenport Town Board. Prior to that, I served fourteen years as the town's elected Tax Collector. During those years, I worked with and around many good people. I can honestly say that Supervisor Kathy Eldridge was not one of them.

The race for Town Supervisor this year is the most consequential town election in my memory. Outgoing Supervisor Eldridge has been compromised, and Greenport residents are suffering because of it. Deputy Supervisors and other compliant Town Board members have enabled her for several years now and are complicit in the systemic malfeasance and misconduct that presently exists in our town government.

This election is not about personality or partisan politics. It is about change. We need to elect a Town Supervisor who will encourage public attendance and participation at town meetings. We need a Town Supervisor who will prioritize town residents and their interests above everything else.

I encourage Greenport residents to join me in voting for John Porreca Sr. for Town Supervisor.
