Greenport fish farm announces closure

Hudson Valley Fisheries just announced they are going to cease their operations in a post on their website:

Thank you for your support of Hudson Valley Fisheries.

It is with great regret that we announce we will be ceasing operations.

Since 2018, we have been proud to serve customers throughout New York City, the Hudson Valley, and across the United States with premium, sustainably raised steelhead trout in both fresh and smoked formats and more recently in single-ingredient freeze dried Happy Trout Pet Treats format.

The timing of this announcement is curious. We don't know the exact date when they posted it but it must have happened within the past week. While we published our article "The Greenport Uprising" in which the fish farm's attempt to buy influence in the Town of Greenport were outlined two days ago, there is no reason to believe that this prompted their announcement since it predated the article.
